Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate
From Marrakech to the Valley of the Kings, passing via the Tizi-n-Tichka port in the Atlas, with breathtaking mountain views. Making our way through traditional Berber villages in the High Atlas. After lunch at Ait Benhaddou or Ouarzazate, where you may see the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Institute, we’ll continue to Las Gargantas de Dades, passing via Roses, and spend the night in a riad or hotel there.
Day 2: Ouarzazate to Merzouga Desert
The Draa Valley is home to one of Morocco’s longest rivers, and after breakfast we’ll go there to view it. We pause along the route to capture images and take in the sights of the Draa valley and its many picturesque kasbahs and berber communities. After a leisurely lunch in Nkob or Alnif, we’ll continue our two-hour drive to the breathtaking Merzouga dunes. “Powdery sand dunes desert.” In order to go far into the desert, we will swap out our motorized vehicles with one that uses animal traction. Upon arrival at the camp, we make ourselves at home in the traditional camel hair tents inhabited by nomad families. Spend the evening in the berber tent, gazing up at the twinkling stars.
DAY 3: MERZOUGA
On the third day of our daring desert trip of Morocco, we will visit Merzouga. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we’ll have some free time to swim in the pool or discover the desert area’s many attractions. The day will end with a delicious supper and a night at the hotel. Quad biking, dunes buggy rides, and biking are just a few of the things available, but you’ll have to pay for them yourself.
Day 4: MERZOUGA to MARRAKECH
Returning to Marrakech will require a lengthy trip of almost nine hours. Starting with breakfast, we will make a lunch stop in the city of Ouarzazate on the journey. We return to Marrakech at around 19:00.
